Strangely, I can no longer update my About page. I haven’t tried to update it since months and I’ve upgraded my wordpress to the latest version one not long ago. It’s only now that I realise that I cannot edit my About page any more. After I press Save, the page is redirected to post.php instead.
My other pages can be edited successfully. That’s so strange. I had to edit my About page via the database instead but still, it’s really troublesome to have to do that each time I want to edit my About page.

-edited at 23:15-
I have edited my About page via the database and deleted all the text and saved the page. Then , I went in my wordpress ‘Manage pages’ page to edit the About page. I wrote the word ‘testing’ and pressed Save. The page could be edited successfully. It seems that it’s a word in my About page which was causing my page not to save properly.
I had kept a copy of my About page content so I pasted one paragraph of text and pressed the Save button. I did this for the rest of the paragraphs until the page doesn’t save and gets redirected to post.php instead. Then I pasted sentences by sentences until I managed to track down the word which was causing all this trouble.

It’s the word ’s e t’ . (sorry for the spaces in between, my post won’t save otherwise. )
I then edited my Links page (just to see if I get the same problem with other pages)and put the word ’s e t’ at the very beginning and the page can still be saved.
I put the word one paragraph below and it could still be saved. When I write that word further down or at the end of the page, the page cannot be saved. So weird.

note: I’m very bored right now but I guess that it’s quite obvious.

May 28th, 2006Bandwidth problems

website news @ 5:35 pm

I tried to access my website this morning but I got a “Bandwidth Exceeded” error.
My website is now up again thanks to James and I had a look at my site stats. My bandwidth usage for this month is 10GB. For March and April it was 9GB. It used to be 3 to 5GB before. I don’t understand what happened during the last three months. I’ll have to look into the matter and find ways to prevent the same thing from happening again.

website news @ 2:33 pm

I’ve decided to start using password protection for certain entries.

To my regular blog readers and commentators, I will be sending you the password soon. Before the last day of my exams (19th) anyway. If after that, you still haven’t received an email from me, you can try to contact me, especially if you think I forgot you. (Sorry…) :flowers: I will be sending you the password on the email address you wrote when writing your comments. If you have a new email address, just leave a comment here with your new email address.
I also don’t know who exactly has been reading my blog (esp if they don’t comment) so it’s kinda difficult for me to decide to whom I should give the password.
To everyone else, if you receive no replies, it means NO. Sorry about this but unless I know you or you are a regular reader or commentator and I feel comfortable enough to let you read it, you won’t have access to my private posts. The private posts are likely to be extracts from my personal journal, my most personal thoughts…

August 10th, 2005my first chinese spam

website news @ 11:18 am

Then there was a big bunch of links but of course, I’m not posting them here.

Note: If you wish to attempt to translate this, there’s always the Google Language Tools.
The Chinese (simplified) to English translation is still BETA so don’t expect much from it. Qz and I were using it once and we kept laughing. hihi

Usually I get those spam comments with only a few links in it or I get comments like:
“Laziness is a secret ingredient that goes into failure. But it’s only kept a secret from the person who fails.” … with no links in the comments but the author’s ( of the comment ) url is one of those poker, diet pills, casinos websites. I have to admit that some of the quotes they use are interesting sometimes.

Wordpress 1.5.1.3 has been released to fix an important security issue.

I just upgraded from Wordpress 1.5.1.2 to Wordpress 1.5.1.3 . Although upgrades are necessary and should be done asap, I still don’t enjoy upgrading my Wordpress. I’m so scared that something might ‘break’ during the upgrade and my blog gets all messed up.
Still, this time the upgrade was easy. According to the Changelog, only 5 files need to be replaced.

June 16th, 2005Can you see images?

website news @ 9:54 am

A quick post before I go off to class.
A friend told me that he cannot see the images in my blog.
Is this happening to anyone else?
Can you see the pics and the smilies??
Please let me know. Thanks.

June 4th, 2005Hotlinking- the End

arghh, website news @ 1:00 pm

In reply to the new comment by anne.

* Nice * new email add and website url … eatshit@hotmail.com , http://www.eatpussy.com *shakes head* I can’t believe this.

–Start–

First of all, don’t call me a bitch. I’m not. Geez. I hate people who speak so rudely.
When you search for pics in Google and then view the pic. Google clearly says:

See full-size image.
*image url here*
*image size here*
Image may be scaled down and subject to copyright.

subject to copyright –> Why is it that some people don’t bother reading properly??

Anne, I never said anything about Bush. If you hadn’t gotten so worked up over my blog entry, you would realise that it’s someone who commented on the blog entry who said the Bush comment. I don’t care where you are from and what you are.
I hate that implication you made about me being racist. Had it been anyone else, a French, a Chinese or whatever, I would have blogged about the hotlinking if they had reacted like you did.
I DID comment in your blog entry first, telling you that what you did was wrong and that you should remove that pic. I was nice enough about that and even gave you two links so that you could go read about Hotlinking and Copyrights because I had guessed that maybe you don’t have a clue what hotlinking is. If you had bothered reading, you would have understood why I was telling you to remove my pic. You came and commented with your ‘don’t care attitude’ instead . It’s your attitude which made me angry enough to blog about your hotlinking. Not the hotlinking itself. Get it?

In your last comment , you are apologizing. If you are really sorry, then fine. I accept your apology. The End.
Don’t bother commenting again. I don’t wanna waste my time with this anymore.

—–End of my reply—-

She removed the pic herself so no need for me to do anything else. Thanks to everyone who commented and gave some suggestions about what I should do. Still, i’d never have replaced that pic with a really nasty one. However angry I can get, I’d never stoop so low. I was more angry with her attitude than with the hotlinking itself.
I wish that people would bother reading what they are agreeing to when they sign up for something. For example, when people sign up for a Xanga blog, they have to agree to the Terms of Use.
Maybe I should watermark all my pics as from now. It will take a long time to do that. I have quite a lot of pics.
Now I need to find ways to prevent future hotlinking.
ah.. and my feeling blue has got nothing to do with this.

arghh, website news @ 5:18 pm

Yesterday I was going through my cpanel webstats logs and I found three websites hotlinking to my images.
I couldn’t visit one of the websites because it’s blocked in China so the only thing I could do was change the image file names. For the others, I contacted the wedmistress and webmaster.
I got one response so far and do you know what she said???

girl .. i do not care. i can use whatever the hell i wanna use. people can go look at the properties and see yo` website. so don`t be gettin` no bitch fit on me.

See her comment in my previous entry. I didn’t even have a ‘fit’ . I had simply written a polite comment in her blog entry ( dated Thursday, May 26, 2005) with my image in it,asking her to remove it and I even gave her two links to websites so that she could go read about copyright and hotlinking. I was hoping that she’d realised that hotlinking is wrong. Her attitude totally pisses me off. (oh.. and she deleted my comment from her blog)

Anyway, I did an IP location check first before writing all this because I want to make sure that it’s her who has written that comment. Her IP (logged by wordpress) is 24.242.250.83 and the location is
Country: UNITED STATES
Region: TEXAS
City: HOUSTON , according to this.
Acccording to her Xanga profile, she is from there indeed.

I thought that she would take down the image asap.
I’m still thinking about what to do.
I can change the image url but is that enough? She’d just shrug it off and won’t give a damn.

If she had just saved my image and uploaded it , I wouldn’t mind that much but still, I’d appreciate being credited. But hotlinking, no way. I won’t allow that.
I took some screen captures yesterday and today.
This is one of those I took today:

screencap of the hotlinked image
The image is originally from one of my previous blog entries.
Do I sound like I’m making a big deal out of this? I blame it on my slight fever. On second thought, even if I wasn’t ill, I would be mad. All because of her ‘i do not care’ attitude.

Some info about :
Bandwidth Theft and copyright. I found those two websites after searching in google.
