I went to Pizza Hut at Caudan so many times this hols that the mere thought of pizza makes me feel a bit queasy now. That’s why I don’t have any pics of pizza in this entry.
Pics taken last Sunday evening:
I always take pics of Pizza Hut from the front so I opted for a different angle this time.

Pics with my 2 little sisters as well as with Jae and KeNnY.
The pic with KeNnY was taken outside Pizza Hut but on the same day… Should have used flash.
It’s my only pic with him.
We were walking around in Caudan the week before, looking for gifts, sitting at Sunset Café & Café Cabane and coughing ( both sick)… but didn’t take any pics together because there was no one to take our pic. He’s back to UK now.
Jae, my sisters and I took loads of pics at Pizza Hut.

Some pics of food:

I went to Pizza Hut again today with a few high school friends this time; Sabrina, Puckie (or Puck. It’s a nickname. Puck is a character in Shakespeare’s play A Midsummer Night’s Dream. ) and Milly.
I’m no longer sick now. This explains why I was in a pic-taking mood today. I took the antibiotics and cough medicine for a few days only and I’m feeling alright now. Why didn’t I go to see the doc sooner??pffff .
Anyway we talked a bit about the good old QEC (Queen Elizabeth College) days and teased each other about who’s going to get married first. We all say that we are too young now, still have loads to do in life and that maybe in 5 years+ …
We took a few pics inside Pizza Hut and also outside, near the Blue Penny Museum in Caudan.
In Pizza Hut,

I had a great time at Keg yesterday.
It’s not everyday that my friend Kevin invites me to dinner. My first thought was “No thanks, don’t pay for me” but he insisted and well, he is working now. So I don’t feel that bad about it. He is a great guy who helped me with Maths in my last year in high school. :flowers: I was going through a rough time & didn’t feel like studying anymore (I had missed many classes at school) but he encouraged me and taught me Statistics 1 & 2 a few months before the final exams. Those few months were pretty stressful and even if he didn’t manage to make me like Maths again ( I used to love Maths in my lower classes) , he helped me a lot and I was pretty satisfied with my results. He told me that I’ve changed a lot since last year; my way of talking, not so ‘childish’ , etc. I never realised it. Anyway, I was told that I’ve matured into a beautiful young lady. *the last part nearly had me choking on my drink* *grins*
Saan , Francis and Sergio were also there. Saan was in my ballet & Chinese dance class. I was so glad to see her again.
We had a lovely dinner, tried the new beer which they were giving out free (the name is Black Eagle or something… I didn’t like it. I don’t like beer) , joked around and tried to hear each other talk over the loud music and singing. The singing was good. Those people sure are talented.
Pic of two of the singers:

Sergio left us for a while to go somewhere with some of his friends and the rest of us stayed at Keg, taking pics and sipping our drinks. I had a Pina Colada. It’s very light and reminds me of milkshake. I love it.
Then came the “This song is for Aline from Shanghai… she’s studying there and is on hols in Mauritius… ” (the singer said something like that in French). Turned out that Kevin requested a song for me. All grins and laughter at my table. I think I might have blushed too. I was a bit embarrassed. OMG.
The people sitting near our table, including many tourists, all looked at me. Those sitting further away were craning their neck and trying to see who this “Aline from Shanghai ” is. The singer had made it sound like I’m originally from Shanghai, i.e, he made it sound like I’m Shanghainese. He sang “Eternity” by Robbie Williams for me and finished with a “Ni hao, this song was for Aline from Shanghai.” More laughter at my table and people looking at me again. I could have died. :faint:

This mountain seems to be quite popular among us, Mauritian bloggers.
James and Carine both have blog entries and pics concerning this particular mountain. They both live(or used to.. ) near the mountain.
I used to live quite near that mountain, around 5 mins from the foot of the mountain, near the Harbour View apartments.
In 2003 and early 2004 , I used to go to Mt des Signaux almost every Sunday or on Saturdays too after a long day at LAN cyber café. My LAN pals used to go with me. Sometimes, I managed to convince other friends too. So many memories there… My friends tried rollerblading up there and well, going up was okay but going down… too dangerous too attempt.
At that time, I was like ‘one of the guys’, always wearing jeans, often the only gal in that group of guys; my ‘bodyguards’. hehe
I liked to go up there to think. I always felt better afterwards.
Then I moved to my other house and stopped going. It sure felt great going there again.
According to virtual tourist ,
The mountain “des Signaux”was named thus because it was once the watchtower assigned to announce the arrival of the boats (of which La Malle Française – the French Trunk – the maritime carrying trade ship). Tradition preserved, since the summit of this mountain is filled with the antennas of communications of the telephone company and with facilities of radars.
What Port Louis (city, northwestern Mauritius, capital of the country.. More info about Port Louis here) looks like from Mt des Signaux :
The buildings look so tiny.

We had a “family outing” yesterday. Dad didn’t go with us. He was tired from work.
We went to Richmond Hill right next to Super U (Grand Baie) first to get something to eat.
I let my siblings choose and in the end we bought 2 large pizzas (we got the half-half kind, hence 4 different types of pizzas) at Debonairs, 1 big burger at Steers and two cups of ice cream. 2 large pizzas= 16 slices We always divide food equally among us so we each got 4 slices of pizza. wahhhh 4 slices… I was already full by the time I finished my 2nd slice but my brother proceeded to eat his 3rd and 4th slice and my sisters followed. I had a very light breakfast that morning and no lunch. Promising myself that I won’t have dinner that night, I ate my 3rd and 4th slice too. I sure don’t regret doing that. The pizzas tasted great. I prefer Debonairs’ pizza to the pizza at Pizza Hut.

At the beach.. More pics…. click on the link below

It feels good to be back home. I’ve been helping out in my parents’ store but I also went out a few times with my sisters and friends. I cannot use my old sim card for the time being. I’m using my sister’s old sim card. Luckily, I had a few of my friends’ phone numbers saved on that sim. I’ve met a few friends already and will be meeting more later. I have nearly two months for that.
There are a few new things at home and one of them is this small fish tank:

Some of the fish:

It’s not very hot in Mauritius. In fact, it is winter right now but it doesn’t feel cold either. The weather sure is nicer than that in Shanghai. It was 34-39°C when I left Shanghai.
We finally have ADSL at home. I guess it’s only until September. My mum figured that it’s the best option since my bro (who’s also back to MU for his hols) and I go online very often. Our old internet package wouldn’t be enough.
Mauritius, Shanghai, arghh, photos @ 4:33 pm
I love Shanghai. The only thing I complain about so far is the weather. I’m not used to it yet.
According to weather.com , it’s 88°F in Shanghai right now. I’m only used to °C, so I looked for a Fahrenheit to Celsius Convertor. Here’s one.
88°F =31.111111111111114 °C
No wonder I feel like I’m going to faint. I’ve been to the bank just now and 15 mins walking outside was more than enough.
31 °C and it’s only spring. If this is what spring is like in Shanghai, I’m not looking forward to summer.
It wasn’t this hot a few days ago. Winter was too cold and spring isn’t nice either. I hope that the temperature will drop soon. Unlike the nice, sunny weather in Mauritius, here I can practically feel the sun’s harmful rays on my skin. Not a pleasant feeling at all. I’m going to buy suncreen or sunblock today. I really need it. I used to put on suncreen only when I go tanning at the beach. I can already imagine the state of my skin after a few years in Shanghai if I don’t use suncreen everyday during spring and summer.
This sunny weather makes me want to go to the beach. No beach here.
I miss the beaches in Mauritius.

I’m leaving Mauritius tomorrow evening and I haven’t even finished packing.
It’s the first time that I’ll be away from home for a period of 4 years. I’m trying to pack wisely but there are certain things which I really can’t bear to leave behind, especially the gifts I received from my friends. I’m even taking my majorette twirling baton with me. I’ve been very busy this week with packing, shopping and meeting my friends. I feel bad about not being able to meet up with everyone . Sometimes I wish that I could be in two places at the same time. I’ve been out almost every night since most of my friends are free at night only. When I meet my friends, we always go have lunch or dinner. I can feel the extra pounds coming. ah well.. I can work these off after I leave Mauritius.
A few pics taken during my nights out:
At Caudan Waterfront
I took a few pics there while waiting for Diana to arrive.

At Spur, me and Stephanie.

I’ve had a pretty long day, meeting friends here and there; Chinatown,Gladiator,Rodeo,Pizza hut Caudan,McDonald….
Today, I finally met James. I ‘know’ him since February but it’s only today that we managed to meet. In fact, I was wondering if he was scared of me or something like that but today, I was pleasantly surprised.
I’ve just returned home. I had dinner at Marina with Eliette and Dar. I have to admit that I was feeling very tired and I had my packing on my mind. I always worry about everything. Still, I had a lovely time.
There’s one thing which will never change; I still think a lot. There’s so many things I’d like to do or say before leaving Mauritius but some of them are just too difficult for me to talk about. I’m gonna let time work its magic. Maybe.. maybe one day.
