A couple of months ago, I learned that my sister got a Watsons membership card for 10 yuan when she went on a trip to mainland China. I remember telling her “oh, We have Watsons in Singapore but no Watsons Card.” Well we do now. Watsons Singapore finally launched their card. It costs SGD 5 which is about 25 yuan. =_= (SGD5 is about MRU Rs125 ?)

I got my card yesterday. I often buy things at Watsons and since it is possible to earn points to redeem as cash rebates with the Watsons card , it seems like a good deal to me. I also got 29 vouchers(valid till 31 Dec 2009) in my Welcome Pack.

Most of the vouchers are to be used at Watsons but I’ve seen a few which are for KFC,The Nail Spa & Wellness, Spectacle hut etc. The voucher I’m most tempted to use is the Spectacle Hut voucher: a voucher for a free eye check and SGD40 off the purchase of a pair of spectacles which costs at least SGD 100. Even if I rarely wear my glasses when I go out, I think it’s high time for me to buy a new pair.
note : The Watsons Singapore card has to be activated online.

I have been very busy packing my things and I’m still doing some last minute packing. After 4 years here, I have around 15 boxes of personal belongings after throwing away many things. It sounds like a lot but the boxes are the post office’s maximum size which is only 57 x 29 x 37 cms. Small.
I had initially planned to send my boxes by the post because I thought I’d have only a few boxes and I even went to ask them how much it would cost. If I remember well, to ship my things from Shanghai to Singapore, it costs 64.80 yuan for the first kg and the following kgs are 10.90 yuan per kg. The maximum is 40 kgs per box for Shanghai to Singapore but it’s impossible to put 40kgs of things inside those post office boxes which by the way cost 15 yuan each. (the green boxes are said to be waterproof) A box full of my books weighs around 25kgs. I bought around 7 boxes from the post office and bought other boxes online. They are of the same size but brown in color and not waterproof but that’s alright with me. Only 4 yuan each. ( 5 layers ) Boxes of 3 layers are cheaper but I doubt that they will hold the weight. Anyway there are way too many boxes so I’ll use a logistics company instead. The company that I’ve contacted in Singapore has given me the email address of their agent in Shanghai but their agent has yet to reply me. I’ll get their number today and phone them. I have to know if I’m supposed to leave any documents with Desmond for him to be able to send my personal belongings.
I’ve got lots to do today. My flight is tomorrow morning at 10.05 with Garuda airlines. I’m feeling so stressed. I’ll try to get him to help me pack the rest of my things later.
Note: Sorry for the lack of replies. I’ll reply in Singapore.

I’m finally on hols!!! The truth is… I’ve been on hols since almost a month now. I’ve been really busy.
What I’ve been up to after my exams:
went to get a new school pass & student card (my old ones were in my wallet which was stolen when I was out shopping one day),
went to the visa office in Pudong to renew my student visa (going there and getting back home took me 3 hours :faint: ),
helped Keisuke move his things to Desmond’s place. Herman will move to the other Tongji campus next semester and my classmate Keisuke is going to take his room in the current apartment.
went to Joshua and Gancho’s place with Rosemary. Asif joined us there. We all went to the Italian restaurant nearby to have lunch.
went to have dinner at a Japanese restaurant with Desmond, Aki and Keisuke.
went to collect my passport at the visa office with JN.
went bowling with Desmond, Herman, Wenfeng, JN, Rosemary and Aki.
went with Rosemary to the train station. Her sis Jennifer came to Shanghai.
went shopping many times, mostly to buy things for my 2 little sisters.
went to dye and cut my hair. Met a strange guy there. -_-
and some other stuffs..
and NOW…………
I’m in Mauritius!!!
I reached Mauritius last Thursday. hehe
I didn’t want to update before I reach Mauritius because I wanted to surprise a few people.
I wanted to go to Singapore for my summer hols but Des wasn’t on hols yet. His hols start about a month after mine. =_= The temperature in Shanghai was too much for me. I couldn’t take the heat anymore. Therefore, I escaped to Mauritius. Actually, my main reason for going back to Mauritius this year is my family. My mum and sisters came to Shanghai for only a few days (a few months ago) but not my dad. I haven’t been back to Mauritius since my 2005 holidays. 2 years… Anyway it feels good to be back. It’s a pity that my brother couldn’t come back too.

The meanest words I’ve heard this week are “What do you want?”,said in an exasperated tone. After more than two years together, I should have known that he’d react like that. Note to myself: Stay away from him and do not contact him at all when he is busy with his projects. The submission date is tomorrow.
I don’t plan on seeing or contacting him again, at least not until next Thursday when I finish my exams. Contrary to what he might think,I’m not doing that to get back at him. I have exams next week and I have only started revision yesterday. My turn to be super busy now…
On a happier note, I’ll be officially on hols as from next Thursday 11:30 a.m, after I’m done with my last exam of the semester. The second semester will start in March. I’m not sure of the exact date yet but we’ll have longer hols this year, 1 1/2 months instead of just one month.
…btw……..thanks to everyone for the New Year wishes.

I’ve been doing some cleaning to get my room ready for the new year and I’m finally done! Items have been moved from one shelf to another, from one drawer to another until I was satisfied. The pile of stuff which was near my bed has been removed. Many things were thrown away but with some reluctance. snif snif .I tend to collect things which I keep as souvenirs of this or that event/day.
Now all that I need is a small cupboard. I don’t want to clutter my room with furniture but I have too many things and a small cupboard would be great. I saw a really cute one yesterday. Why cute? Well, it is p i n k! I wanted to buy it but the problem was that there was no delivery service. Moreover,I had gone shopping alone and there was no one to help me carry the cupboard.
The cleaning is done, homework has been completed, I did my grocery shopping and the laundry. I also just deleted 505 spam comments which were in the awaiting moderation section. I don’t understand why I’m getting all those spam comments since Christmas.
The only bad thing about today is that I had to work (my part-time job as interpreter) until 10 pm! wah…. I’ve missed the gathering with the other Mauritians at Istanbul restaurant this year. I was thinking about going to Xintiandi for the countdown and fireworks but in the end, I changed my mind. Home sweet home this year….
Happy New Year! :flowers:

It has been almost one month since my last entry so I wrote two entries today. I didn’t mean to ‘disappear’. Hopefully, there will be no repeat of my 3+ months ‘break’. Strangely, I don’t feel like writing anymore. Maybe it’s just a phase I’m going through.
Anyway, the good news is that I’ve managed to recover the lost photos thanks to James. He told me about PhotoOne Recovery. The only problem was that I didn’t have a card reader at that time. I bought a multi-card reader at around RMB70 at the nearest Carrefour and using PhotoOne Recovery, I managed to recover every single photo that had disappeared from my CF card. I then formatted my 3 CF cards and I haven’t had any camera problems since.
Picture updates soon.

*blink blink* It must be a refreshing change to see some content here after so many months.
(note: Website still loooking a bit messy. I know, I know. At the moment you are reading this, I might still be working on the CSS. I’ll try to finish fixing everything before I go to bed.)
My last official entry was on the 6th June after all. More than 3 months. Missed me?
So many things have happened.
I didn’t feel like updating at all because I was depressed.
The 3rd July 2006 is a day I’ll forever remember. Things eventually worked out but still, I feel like I got scarred emotionally. I had never felt so full of doubts like that before.
Moreover, I was unable to go on my trip. I was stuck in Shanghai for the hols and it sure wasn’t pleasant at all. They were the hottest months of the year and my friends were elsewhere for the holidays. A few more things happened but I won’t go into the details. It’s all in the past now. Still, the good thing is that I feel a bit stronger after all this. Ah… and I finally received my new passport and had my new residence permit done. Those people who managed to catch me on msn know how stressed I had been. I got my new passport during the middle of August and it was too late to go on the trip by then. I’m very sad about not having gone to Malaysia and Singapore but there’s always next year.
I’d like to say a BIG thank you to those people who emailed me out of concern. I never replied because writing about my problems were making me feel even more depressed at that time. I hope that you will understand. Again , thanks a lot.
I might have had boring holidays but at least, now everything is alright. I even lost a few kgs during the hols. Food didn’t taste good when I was eating alone everyday.
I moved to International Students Building 1 at the end of August. I live in a single room now. The room is smaller than my previous one and there is no bathtub in the bathroom. Still, I love my new room. I’m still not done with decorating and cleaning. I have too many things which I cannot bear to throw away. My bf once said to me: “You think you garang guni ah? “. My things are not junk. Most of them have sentimental values.
Anyway, I will post pics of my room when I’m done.
My ex-roommate is now living on the 9th floor. I’m on the 10th. Strangely, my ex-roommate and I exchanged a few words in class the other day. We had been acting like strangers, completely ignoring each other during the last few months that we were living together. I didn’t think that we could ever talk to each other again. Still, it’s a good thing. It’s high time to move on.
oh… and I turned 22 years old two weeks ago (on the 9 th September) ! I didn’t do anything special for my birthday and I don’t feel any older. The semester started on the 11th September and I feel great. Time sure flies. I’m in my 3rd year already. It doesn’t really feel like two years have passed. Anyway, it also means that I have two more years left until I graduate.
