March 21st, 2007Stomach problems

Me, food, photos

I’ve been sick since more than a week now . My cold is almost gone but I feel like there’s something at the back of my throat. Now I also have some stomach problems. :worried: I’ve lost 3 kgs since I fell sick but I’ll probably gain back the weight after I get well.

Three days ago, I ate Japanese food ( no, I didn’t eat fish) and I had stomachache a few hours later. I didn’t feel like eating anything for dinner. The next day, I felt worse. I was thinking that my stomachache was worse because I hadn’t eaten anything for more than 12 hours so I ate a sandwich. I didn’t feel any better and felt nauseous. My bf had to go to the hospital to get some medicine (he has flu and wants to get better as soon as possible…) and made me go with him. It’s kinda hard for me to say no when he uses that tone of voice.

I went to the hospital in my university. I hate hospitals. My heart started to beat fast as soon as I stepped in there. I can’t help it. I still remember my one-week stay in a hospital in Mauritius back when I was still in primary school.
At the Tongji hospital, I saw a male doctor. He asked me a few questions, poked at my stomach, asking me where it hurts. He then told me to go to the test area. I had to do a blood test as well as a feces test. The first test was fast. There were 4 people before me. I stood in the line, waiting for my turn. My bf asked me if I was scared when he saw my face. :???: He seemed to find it funny to see me like that. (Now that I think about it, maybe he was just trying to make me feel better.) When it was finally my turn, a nurse pricked my finger with some kind of needle and took some blood to test. For the 2nd test, I wasn’t sure what to do and asked the nurse. She pointed to the small, round boxes(with lids.. Fortunately.. ) which were on the counter next to the little plastic cups used for urine tests and told me to use one of those & added that only a small amount is needed for the test. There were small sticks near the boxes. I took two of those, knowing that they’ll come in handy. I went to the toilet and….. Well, I won’t go into the details here…… :???:
I went back to the same doctor I had seen half an hour ago and after going through my test results, he also examined my throat.
I left the hospital with some medicine; OTC acute bronchitis syrup and Levofloxacin(broad spectrum antibacterial agent). The doctor also told me to avoid fried food and milk (which I don’t drink anyway). I went to class after that. I kept feeling like I want to vomit but nothing was coming out of my mouth. I felt awful. :weeping:
Hours later, I had dinner at my bf’s place.(We bought food at Burger King. )
Burger King_Whooper_bacon and cheese
(I had a normal Whooper with no cheese for dinner. I didn’t take any pics. This is a pic of a Whooper with bacon and cheese. Pic taken during the hols.)
I ate 1/3 of my Whooper and rushed to the toilet after that. Finally threw up. OUF. I felt better after that and finished my whooper. A few hours later, I threw up again. What a waste of a whooper! :???:
I didn’t throw up again after that but till today, I still have stomachache and keep feeling like I might throw up at any time. I took some Talcid and I feel better now. Hopefully, I’ll be okay before Saturday. My friends and I are planning to go to a pizza buffet place on Saturday evening.

March 12th, 2007I want Chicken soup!

Me

I have been in bed most of the time (I have a cold! argh),having nightmares all the time. Now I’m awake, hungry, thirsty and my nose feels sore from the many times I had to blow my nose. I can no longer breathe through my nose. :| I look pale but my nose and the skin around it are red. I look horrible. :x My lips are also very dry and cracked. I already applied some of my favorite Nivea Med Repair lip balm to my lips but it doesn’t seem to be as effective as it usually is. Yikes. I keep drinking water but apparently still not enough because I feel like a fish out of water. My throat hurts if I don’t have a drink of water every 15 minutes or so. Darn. The water bottle on the water dispenser is now empty. No more drinking water left. :( I’ve just put some water to boil and I’m waiting as I finish typing this entry. It feels like years since I last drank boiled water.
From personal experience, I know that I’ll feel better in a few more days (I usually need one week to recover). My bf has been very good to me but he is very busy with a big project right now. It’s his first paid project and I’m really glad for him. Haiz. I hate being sick.

Right now, I’d love to eat the chicken soup my mum usually makes when I’m sick. Many people think that eating Chicken soup really helps when sick but many others disagree. I always feel better after having Chicken soup. It does wonders for my sore throat. If I feel any better tomorrow, I might just go buy the ingredients for the Chicken soup and make it myself or rather try to make it. I’ve never made it before. What else to do when I’m so far from home with no one to take care of me when I’m sick? I’m old enough to be taking care of myself but I feel very weak when I’m sick. Anyway, who doesn’t like to be taken care of? Argh. I must have my Chicken soup!

( Happy Independence Day! Today Mauritius is celebrating its 39th year of Independence and 15 years of Republic. Right now, I kinda wish I have a little flag of Mauritius to hang on my wall. Back when I was in high school, Independence Day also meant one day off school and also marching and performing during the flag-raising ceremony at school as well as during the official ceremony in Port-Louis in front of the Prime Minister, the President of the Republic and other ministers as well as the public. I miss my majorette (baton twirler) days. :( I was looking at the old pics the other day. So many memories.)

Shanghai

My winter vacation is over already and my new classes have started on the 5th of this month. Everything is going smoothly for the time being and the only thing that I’m unhappy about is the weather. :x

After a few months of cold weather, the temperature finally went up to 20 degrees at some point during the vacation and slightly more than a week later, the temperature dropped to almost 0 °C and it was very windy. :| The temperature is on the rise again now and hopefully it won’t drop anymore. I hate cold weather. :???: I hate having to wear so many clothes, falling sick, etc… The worst is that I tend to eat a lot during winter. Lack of self-discipline. *sigh*
