After hours of shopping, we felt like having pizza for dinner. Rosemary and I are sick of Pizza hut pizzas and decided to order from Papa John’s. Pizza hut’s pizzas taste o k a y (a very reluctant okay’) in comparison. (our opinion anyway..)
Jean Noel and Jennifer (2 of Rosemary’s siblings) have never eaten Papa John’s pizzas before (unfortunately, no Papa John’s in Mauritius:( ) so this was a good opportunity.

We preferred to eat at home rather than in the restaurant so Rosemary phoned to order the pizzas when we were on our way back home. The big question was : How many to order? When Richard was still in Shanghai, Rosemary,Richard and I used to order a large Papa John’s pizza and the number of slices per person was just right if we weren’t extremely hungry. Taking that into consideration, we were originally planning to order two medium ones but after much thought, we ordered two large ones. *cough cough* :shock: :wink: Papa John’s large pizza is bigger than Pizza hut’s, 14 inches. Papa John’s medium pizza is 12 inches, same as a large Pizza hut pizza.
2 large pizzas for 4 persons (3 gals and a guy)… 20 slices in all… I didn’t think that we would be able to finish the whole thing..but surprisingly, we were able to.
What can I say?
hmmm… Hours of shopping + walking around= very tired + very hungry.

Since I’m having trouble sleeping, I’ve decided to write more about the pizzas. :faint:

papajohns_pepperoncinis
Pickled pepperoncinis . We love pickled pepperoncinis. :love: They usually give two pepperoncinis and a small pot of ‘Special’ garlic sauce free with every order of original crust pizza but since we don’t like the garlic sauce, we asked the person who took our order to give us only pickled pepperoncinis. We asked for a dozen. :P

My verdict: Unlike Rosemary, I didn’t like this pizza much. The pizza was alright but the taste felt kinda ‘Chinese’ to me. Jean Noel agreed with me. I guess it’s because of the taste of the ham that they used and the supposedly Italian sausage.

My verdict: I was a bit disappointed at first because I thought that it was going to be spicy but it wasn’t. Still, the overall taste was great!

Island Spice pizza. Toppings other than cheese: Grilled Chicken, fresh tomatoes, pineapple, green peppers, sprinkles of red pepper spices, served over garlic sauce.
My verdict: My first thought was that there was something strange about the taste. Before I had time to think about it,the spiciness of the pizza got to me.wah lao! So spicy!. I had to drink some Sprite after taking two bites of this pizza. I forgot about the initial weird taste (which might have been the pineapple) because after that first bite, the weird taste was gone. The pizza tastes so good. I’ll definitely order this again. On the other hand, where’s the garlic sauce?Was that in the pizza too?I didn’t get the taste. I’ll have to pay more attention next time. All I know is that the garlic sauce they use is not the normal garlic sauce. It should be the same one that they usually give for free in a small pot with each order of an original crust pizza. I’m not sure how they make it but it tastes different from the garlic sauce that we are used to in Mauritius.

I’m back in my room now and after looking at the mirror, I’m feeling a bit bad about having eaten that much today. I had a few cups of green tea and I feel better already. It’s now almost 5 o’clock in the morning already. *sigh* I’ve been having trouble sleeping at regular hours lately. Anyway, I’m thinking about waking up in a few hours and then going for a run before lunch time. Hopefully, I’ll have time to do it before we leave the dorms tomorrow. We’ll be going out again.
No more pizzas for a while. We’ll be eating at Yuyuan tomorrow and I’ll try to choose something healthier to eat.
