Mine is slowing down rather badly as well, especially when I am trying to take a photo. About the missing photos, I am flabbergasted. :/ But I hope you can recover your photos nonetheless! I frequently leave (usually by accident) my Canon Elph in my truck where it gets far over 100 degrees F during the summer and below freezing (0 degrees) in the winter. I let it cool off/warm up to room temp and it always turns on and works fine. Never lost a single pic. Maybe the problem is with the memory. A decent brand should hold up. With the cheaper/no-name ones you're luck might not be so good. I don’t think that the weather would have much affect on your camera.
