I’ve been thinking this since last year; I should get a new camera!
I have been using my Canon IXUS 400 since a few years now. Since last year, I’ve had a few problems but mostly card problems so I just got a new card.
Lately, my camera has been very slow. Is it because of the cold? It’s been so cold and rainy lately. After I press the power button, it takes around 30 seconds for anything to happen.
Today, I wanted to transfer the pics taken during the last few days and I realize that all pics taken during the last two months have disappeared from my camera card.

You should may be get the camera ‘checked up’ – could be a problem with the camera itself instead of the mem cards + I guess it’s easy to find repair shops for cams in China as compared to here :P

did you manage to recover the pictures? try a different memory, if same problem occurs then send the camera back to me and i’ll have it checked.

The Powershot SD in the state is the same as the Digital IXUS line in Asia and Europe except for the differnt name.

I don’t think that the weather would have much affect on your camera. I frequently leave (usually by accident) my Canon Elph in my truck where it gets far over 100 degrees F during the summer and below freezing (0 degrees) in the winter. I let it cool off/warm up to room temp and it always turns on and works fine. Never lost a single pic.

Maybe the problem is with the memory. A decent brand should hold up. With the cheaper/no-name ones you’re luck might not be so good.

I guess it is more or less because of the cold and humid weather

Ohhh. your blog’s back up again! =) Hmm. I don’t think the weather could affect much but if photos are disappearing, it’s a big problem. I wish I had my own but it’s far too expensive (around S$600+) for the one I want and it’s like triple the cost of my phone. =( Okay, sorry for ranting =p

Hmm, cameras tend to slow down when they are overly used, or when they exceed two years old. Mine is slowing down rather badly as well, especially when I am trying to take a photo.

About the missing photos, I am flabbergasted. :/ But I hope you can recover your photos nonetheless!
