Today, I heard from a friend that the April 2006 HSK results are out online since yesterday afternoon.
I went to check my results online.

I didn’t mention the fact that I sat for the intermediary HSK exam in April (23 April 2006) because I didn’t find it important. The day of the exam was the same day that one of my hamsters escaped from the cage. I was so busy looking for my hamster after I got back home after the exam that I didn’t give a second thought to the exam.
I have to admit that I didn’t study at all for this exam. I was lazy, busy and had to deal with some personal problems at that time. On the eve of the exam, I opened my HSK book and tried to revise but I stopped after skimming over the first page. I told myself that it’s too late to start revising and that I should just go to sleep early instead of worrying. I have optional HSK classes every Wednesday afternoon this semester and I attend those classes for the sake of getting extra credits (so that I can opt out of taking the Chinese history class next year!:P) . My HSK teacher is a good teacher who explains things in details. Her class is a great opportunity for me to brush up on my grammar. I also attend my other classes regularly and it seems that all that was enough for me. I don’t mean that there is no need to study for the HSK exam. It’s just that each person has his/her own method.
Maybe it was mostly because I had sat for the HSK exam during my 1st year already (May 2005) but this time, I wasn’t stressed on the exam day. I sat for the exam at Shanghai International Studies University(SISU) instead of Fudan University this time because I couldn’t hear well with the wireless headset at Fudan last year. I didn’t want to take any risks this year. Many people I know chose SISU too. At SISU, we got old headsets but they weren’t wireless ones so the sound quality was better. The fact that they put a big clock in the front of the examination hall also made me feel relaxed. Last year at Fudan, there were no clocks in the examination classroom and I had forgotten to wear a watch.

This year, my results are as follows:

I couldn’t really believe it at first because I got full marks for 阅读 and my overall is 47 marks more than last year。
综合 is the last paper and I’m usually very tired when I reach this part. Still, I’m satisfied with my results this time. They didn’t write which level I got on the website but I know that it’s HSK level 8.

I have received a parcel today (chocs from France!thanks Romain!) and I wanted to take some photos but then I realized that I haven’t seen my camera since a few days. The last time I used it was on Sunday evening when I took pics of something which I had cooked. I’m not at home right now and I’m using someone else’s computer. I wasn’t planning to write today but I’m in a lousy mood and writing makes me feel better. I’ve looked for my camera for around 30 mins before I gave up and went out. Seeing that the only place I can look for my camera is my small room, 30 minutes is more than enough. I haven’t been able to find my camera anywhere. I can’t remember where I last put my camera after I used it on Sunday. Usually, I leave it on my table. I’ve looked in my cupboards, under the bed , under my table and even in the fridge! My boyfriend laughed when I told him that I looked in the fridge too. I only looked there because I had opened the fridge when I had cooked and I was half-hoping that I had somehow absentmindedly put my camera in there. I was getting desperate. I won’t look for my camera again today. I’ll have a good night’s sleep and look for it tomorrow. My digital camera is very old now and covered with scratches but I love it. It has been with me almost everywhere I’ve been and I’d hate to lose it. It has to be somewhere in my room. The only other possibility is that someone passing in the corridor stole it while my roommate or I went cooking. We usually leave the door open or half-open when we are in the kitchen. I doubt that someone would do that though. I trust all the students living in my building.

Saying that a few times kinda makes me feel better. I hope that I find it soon.

I’ve found it!!! So relieved. It was behind my huge pile of books in my cupboard. I think I had put it on top of the pile of books but the camera fell behind the pile.

I was even telling my bf that I won’t be going to SG during the holidays if I don’t find my camera. I can’t live without my camera. I would never go travelling without it. If I had lost my camera, part of the money I’m saving for my trip would have been used to buy another camera which costs around the same price as the plane tickets.

Last week was the 1-week May hols. I didn’t go travelling. I spent my week with my bf and friends, watching dvds, shopping(which was horrible!too many people!), playing Warcraft 3 and working. I even cleaned my room. I went to a classmate’s room a few times to feed & talk to her cat while she was away in some other city in China. I love cats. I thought of getting a cat here but got hamsters instead. We aren’t allowed to keep pets in the dorm but hamsters are tiny and practically don’t make any noise. I won’t get caught. Some of the cleaning ladies had reported the cat to the administration some time ago but when they went to my friend’s room to check if it was true, they didn’t find the cat. My friend had kept her cat in my room during the inspection. Still, a few other persons working in the dorm know about my friend’s cat but they won’t tell on her. My friend moved to Building 1 not long ago and is now living on the 5th floor. One or two days after my friend came back from her holiday, her cat fell from the 5th floor while my friend was watching a movie. My friend only noticed that the cat was missing after the movie was over. She found the cat in the bushes, all bloody. The cat is now better but still at the vet’s. Hopefully, everything will be alright.
