Life, whether in a foreign country or in one’s own country isn’t always easy. Once in a while, you encounter difficulties and feel all alone. It’s not easy but never give up. Suicide might seem to be the easiest way out but think of the happy times you’ve had, think of the things you still have to do in life and think of the family and friends that you’ll be leaving behind.. They are those people who love you, who want to help you. Please accept their help. Dealing with the pain all alone is too hard. After the rain ,comes the sun and maybe even a rainbow…
I’m telling this to anyone who might be reading my blog but I’m also telling this to myself. I was someone who took rash decisions when I was a teenager. It was a difficult period but I made it through somehow and I don’t regret being still here.
Let’s enjoy life.

I have started reading his blog around one month ago after he left a comment on my blog. After some time when I visited his blog again, I noticed that he deleted all his entries. Since I don’t know him, I had no idea what happened but today, upon reading Andy’s blog entry, I learned of the sad and tragic thing which happened one week ago.
I read a few comments here and there and it seems that some people don’t believe that what happened is true. Some are saying that it’s some kind of joke. Maybe it’s hard to accept but it’s a fact. It happened.
RIP Shawn.

website news
I tried to access my website this morning but I got a “Bandwidth Exceeded” error.
My website is now up again thanks to James and I had a look at my site stats. My bandwidth usage for this month is 10GB. For March and April it was 9GB. It used to be 3 to 5GB before. I don’t understand what happened during the last three months. I’ll have to look into the matter and find ways to prevent the same thing from happening again.
food, photos
We went to a Brazilian buffet on the eve of Alex’s birthday. The restaurant was okay, the food was alright but not ‘great’. I was too hungry and forgot to take pics of food. The waiters were a bit strange. They seemed to ignore the guys at our table at times and prefered to serve the girls.
The next day, we had a small gathering in Rosemary’s room. We cooked some dishes which we usually eat in Mauritius, esp. at home. It’s usually the Chinese families in Mauritius who cook those dishes but it’s not uncommon to have non-Chinese cook and eat them too. Like I’ve mentioned before, each community has adapted and mixed each other’s cuisine to their liking.
The filling which Rosemary had prepared for the wonton(馄饨 in Mandarin).

It’s not the same as what my mum makes but it was good enough for all of us.
The wonton wrappers which we bought at the supermarket.

At home, we usually make our own.
While Rosemary was in the kitchen making fried noodles , Joanne and I started making the wonton. Alex even joined us after a while. It was fun teaching him how to fill and wrap the wonton. It was the first time that we were making wonton in China and we were really excited about it. They sell wonton in Shanghai but they don’t look the same as what we have in Mauritius. In Mauritius we call the wonton ‘kiow‘ or ‘wantan‘.
