April 24th, 2006A taste of freedom
Yesterday afternoon I found only one hamster in the cage when I returned home. It was then that I realized that I didn’t close the top lid properly after playing with them. There was a small space at the top and one of the hamsters had somehow climbed the bars and squeezed through that space. I panicked and started to look for the missing hamster frantically. It took me almost an hour to find her. She was in my food storage cupboard which I had left semi-opened. I had to remove many things from the cupboard to be able to get her out. She seemed to like the cupboard a lot. That’s surprising because the cupboard smells like spices, esp. curry powder.
She doesn’t seem to be happy to be back in the cage now. ![]()

Your hamster looks adorable!
I remember when I got my Roscoe last year, I also had a habit of not shutting the lid properly. But you’ll get used to it sooner or later.
haha, reminds me of my water turtle, it once walked till the veranda on the first floor, and fell from there *ouch* my sister found it then walking in the yard. not really sure how it survived that fall till now tho o.O
That is a cute hamster.Based on where you have found her,she may be hungry at that time
It is good that you have found her back
You’ve been tagged! =)
The hamster is so cute..i wish have one too…but i am not sure yet jejeje
Ahhh I’m glad you found your hamster
Ugh When I was younger I told my parents I wanted to buy a hamster, but they were teasing me about how it could escape and I would also be frantically looking for it. *sigh* I decided to choose a dog instead, much harder to lose when he’s on a leash. Still I can imagine how scary it must have been not knowing where your hamster is
So I’m really glad you found her.
Your hamsters are adorable
I’m glad you found it o.O It would’ve been terrible to have lost it :s
It’s pretty cool you’re in China ^.^ My cousin lives in Shag Hai as well
Hi,Aline.
i am a chinese and i love to read your blog.
Do you know the meaning of “人往高处走,水往低处流”?
And i just want to get help from you, how to translate it into chinese? thanks!!
sorry…how to translate it into English?
thanks!!
According to this , it means:
Man struggles upwards; water flows downwards.
yes, I have to be more careful from now on. I was so scared.
welcome!:) Are you really from ‘United Arab Emirates’ or is it the ip-to-country plugin which isn’t detecting your country well?
Welcome back here. Well one word of advice, before you get a hamster , find out all kinds of info that you can get about them.
maybe its warmer/darker in there in the cupboard
Great!
They’re so cute! Haha.. maybe she love to eat and the smell of the spices keep her addicted to the cupboard? My hamsters used to go to the shoe cupboard when they escaped, I have no idea why, it’s a more weird place then where yours go.
Hey aline the great 9Rules is calling > don’t wanna make the wish to be part of it?
That totally reminds me of the days in KOrea. A girl I was “dating” brought me her two hamsters to have. Two days after she left the one had a baby. I was shocked, but not nearly as shocked as when I came home from work and the only thing left of the baby was a freaking leg. UGH. After one more time like this, they hit the road.
i just realised that u r from shanghai@
My hamsters escaped a lot of times but lucky I found them everytime
Didn’t find some of them immediately though - sometimes it took up to 3 days!
omg the CUTENESS!!
