April 5th, 2006Freaking me out
I was going to write Xiamen part 2 today but I’m going to get out of my room within 5 minutes. Right now, my roommate is kneeling on the floor and praying (I think) ,totally freaking me out,esp since I’m not a religious person. I have nothing against religious people as long as they don’t try to convert me but there’s a limit to how much I can take in my own room.
I’m out of here. I’ll try to update later.

Looks like Xiamen part 2 will have to wait! I’m going to Yangzhou tomorrow. We are leaving at 7 a.m . So early.
I hope I manage to get up early. It’s a trip organized by the International Students Office. I’ll be back on Friday night.

I’m not a religious person and I try to be tolerant of others, but I can sympathize. I don’t think I could handle that either. At least not unless she fully reassured me that she has no plans to include me or try to convert me.
Whoa, you’re going on one trip after another! Lucky you.
Anyway enjoy your vacation to Yangzhou. (: And bring back photos with you!
Er… what’s her religion? When I was out on my trip to NJ,HZ, SZ, SH, etc… in 2004, I had a muslim roommate. I just left the room everytime he had to pray but we had a nice time together. I guess the fact that we were the only 2 to speak French helped
I’ve always hated people trying to get me (or anyone else) to believe in God or whatever religion.:censored: For me, how you act in life is more important than the name of your religion.
what’s freaking u out? i guess she’s respecting u since she’s kneeling and not rolling and lying on the floor monopolizing the entire room’s walking space.
Is your roomate a muslim?
If he/she is … Muslim prays in the direction of Mecca, using a small area to pray. Part of the prayer process is the kneeling, on all four with the forehead touching the ground
We pray 5 times a day, evenly spread thru the day.
Talk to your roomate about how you feel abt this praying. I’m sure your roomate will explain more abt the praying or find ways to resolve this
She’s muslim.
She is a muslim but well, she prays only once per day (usually at night) and almost everyday. Sometimes she doesn’t pray. I’m getting used to seeing her pray by now and well, I just ignore it. We usually don’t even talk so it will be too hard to approach her about this matter. Even so, it’s her religion. I can’t do anything about that. I’ll just wait for a few months until I get a new roommate for the next semester.
That freaked me out because I wasn’t expecting to see her do that. I’m getting used to it now.
