January 7th, 2006iPod nano
I wrote this yesterday but was waiting for the go-ahead from James. I wasn’t sure if he would be okay with me mentioning his name in this blog entry.
谢谢 :flowers:
Swap you the nano for your puppies anytime though.. ![]()

James’ puppies Anny and Bobby, both 3 months old.

The delivery guy phoned me today during lunch, telling me that he has my express package and that he’s waiting for me in front of International Students Building No 2. I hurried off to find him, all the while trying to guess what was in the box. James had told me yesterday afternoon that I would be receiving a package soon. All he told me was that it was a box with papers inside. He wouldn’t tell me what he was sending me exactly.
He gave me a hint:
Environmental requirements
Optimum temperature: 32° to 95° F (0° to 35° C)
Relative humidity: 5% to 95% noncondensing
Me : “what?!” :confusion:
Back to the delivery guy. He was quite ‘friendly’ but what annoyed me at first was that the first words he uttered upon seeing me was : “You look so Chinese !” ( he said it in Chinese of course..)
Not even a Hello. ![]()
Apparently, he had tried to guess from which country I’m from when he saw my name (on the package) but my full name seemed a bit too long (5 words) and too strange for him.
He also complimented me on my spoken Chinese and asked me where I’m from, things like that, etc . I politely replied and ran off to find my friends who were waiting for me. I get tired of explaining the same things all the time. (and it was -3 degrees… I was cold.
)
I opened the package to find a box inside:

iPod nano! the 4G one… :faint: and it’s white.
(I prefer the white nano to the black one. )
(Arghh .. James!! … it was so difficult to unwrap. You were having fun with the adhesive tape, weren’t you? :faint: I usually never tear off wrapping paper but I got a bit frustrated this time. lol)
What I love most about the gift is this:

I love the personal engraving at the back. ![]()
It’s a custom laser engraving that is done free by Apple when you buy an iPod. (that’s what I read just now anyway. )
What I think about the iPod nano:
I love it. It’s the perfect size for me. The normal iPod seems a bit too big for me. The shuffle is a smaller than the nano but it doesn’t have a screen.
I’ll try to take good care of it.
I just need to buy a case. Any advice? So many nano cases in the Apple Store. Don’t know which one to choose.
I heard that the screen gets scratched easily but that the iPod nano itself doesn’t spoilt that easily. Some people wanted to test and dropped a nano from various heights and even drove a car over it twice.

*cough* i didnt pack it, i’ll pass the message
Oh is that a gift ribbon on the package?
That is so so sweet!!
good luck with it
好可爱的狗哦!!还有ipod,最喜欢上面刻的字!!
Wow, an Ipod Nano!
And it looks very elegant in the photos, especially with your name engraved on it. An excellent personalized gift. Now, you can enjoy listening to your mp3s everywhere you go.
Well, I saw this post, and two things came to mind.
First, when I saw the dogs; I thought to myself… “ALINE!!! I said stop putting up pictures of FOOD!” hehehe (I know… LAME joke about China, but still a little amusing.)
Secondly… I was looking at the Nano’s just the other day. Having been “out of the loop” for a while here in 东北, I am a little confused on something. Can you add your own files to it easily, or are you required to use download (Pay) sites to put songs on it?
Hi, congratulations Aline, welcome to the club!
To prevent scratches on your iPod Nano, I did the following. I bought the tubes and Crystal Film Covers.

About the dog comment… :worried: These puppies are too cute. Don’t even think about them as food. :weeping:
About the nano, you can add your own files to it. The nano comes with a cd to install iTunes. You use iTunes to add mp3 which are already on your computer to your iTunes library. You can create playlists. Then you choose what you want to upload to your ipod or you can set the options so that the songs on your iPod(if connected to your computer) update according to any changes you made to your iTunes playlist. Photos can also be uploaded to your ipod but well, I haven’t tried that yet.

thanks for the advice!
to everyone else:

Wow,a nano huh? That is nice!It is even personalised with your own name
I will suggest you to get a screen protector for your screen.I have seen cases where the ipod nanos have serious scratches in the screen just after putting them into the pockets of the clothing
Congrats!!!
Did you get it from Taobao or Ebay or somewhere? Cos I don’t know any franchised Apple sellers that are able to provide the engraving service other than from private stores… or I’m just too ignorant…
I’m also thinking about getting one after the Spring Festival. Cheers!
oops…I was reading too fast… it’s a gift!!
That’s a very nice gift! Each one of us (75 staff!) received an iPod nano for Christmas. Mine is still sitting on a shelf in my office corner as the “old” one (also a gift) still suits my need.
Be careful, get a case as soon as possible since the nano is very scratch-prone. And, BTW, if there is one podcast you should listen on your iPod, it should be Ricky Gervais’s (see my weblog for details).
Hi there … thank you for dropping comment at my blog … hope you come back soon yea? Cheers!
puppies are WAYYYY too cute!
Oh…and about it being a sign that I need to get in touch of nature…hahaha  u made my day.. for some reason i found that comment funny
Check out the case from Agent 18. I picked up one of their cases for the iPod I got for my wife (which scratches as easy as the nano). It fits nice a snug in the case and it still looks good.
thanks to everyone for the advice. Will get a case soon.
