December 27th, 2005Many people queuing up outside Pizza Hut on Christmas Day
I took this pic on Chritsmas Day when I was out doing some last-minute shopping.

It was really ridiculous to see so many people waiting outside Pizza Hut despite the cold. I mean, there are much nicer restaurants in Shanghai. Why Pizza Hut? ![]()
I like pizzas but that’s not what I’d eat on Christmas Day. I’d rather go to a nicer restaurant even if it’s more expensive or simply eat good, home-made food. I guess that’s what I miss most here.

Hey there.
You’re the first person other than my friends and coercing my sister to write something on my blog hehe. Thanks!
Yeah, i know what you mean about Pizza Hutt. Saw a huge line outside near our place and couldn’t believe it. What’s more, the prices are not that cheap either!
Cool blog too. Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to you 2!
It’s about perception and cost. Pizza Hut may be considered as a Christmas treat because they do not eat it every day and it’s expensive. Just like oyster and foie gras are a treat in France.
western influence i guess :confusion:… ya i would also rather go for other local food or cuisine myself
… because Pizza Hut makes the best pizzas?
Heh.
I see long queues around several restaurants here in Singapore as well, and most of them tend to be fast food joints.
Shanghai’s pizza hut is sad, not much choice of food!
Mind u, i’v seen longer queues than this infront of McDonald’s! at that time, McDo was selling collector’s edition of Snoopy, each Snoopy in the pack was dressed differently – according to major worldwide culture. We have a set of these at home, really it did worth the wait!
