December 17th, 2005Ruzzi at Fuzhou lu
As an early Christmas gift, we (all the undergraduate Chinese Language students) could each spend 50 kuai on food and the International Students Office would reimburse us. My main teacher therefore said that she will pay for all of us and then she’ll just get the money back by showing the receipt to those people in the International Students Office. We decided to go to Ruzzi for dinner last Thursday. A few students from my class didn’t go so we could spend more than 50 kuai each.
It was my first time there. The pizzas were okay. We didn’t have any of those classic ones from the menu. There were not much to choose from. They were only 4 different pizzas on the menu. My Bulgarian classmates usually go there and they said that there was a different menu last time they went there. I saw the menu on the Ruzzi website and it turns out that they have 14 different pizzas. Also, the prices for certain items on the online menu were not the same as at the restaurant. They really should update the prices on the website.
Anyway, we opted for 4 custom 12” pizzas, i.e, we choose the ten toppings we wanted, the sauce and how much cheese we want. It was 79 kuai for the 12” one plus 6 kuai for double cheese. If I remember well, it’s 59 kuai for a 9” custom pizza but only 6 toppings can be chosen. The pizzas tasted okay. We got a bit (erm..) creative with our choice of toppings. I’d like to try one of the classic Ruzzi pizzas one day. Some of them seem quite nice.
(See on the website.)
By the way, the address can be found there. We went to the Fuzhou lu one but they also have Ruzzi at Xujiahui and Huaihai zhong lu.
I didn’t like the Caesar salad but the Shredded Chicken salad & Nicoise salad were alright.
We didn’t have dessert because we were very full.
I want to go to Ruzzi again to eat a Banana split. I have been craving for a Banana split since last year and I saw Banana splits on the new Ruzzi menu.

See, you worried too much.

That’s really nice of your school. So far, my university hasn’t done anything special for us students during the coming Christmas, apart from reminding us constantly about the make-up lessons next month.
And the food looks yummy.
you have been infected, see my blog for the game…

delicious pizzas, nice christmas party
from what you added (the Japanese names) I remember the times when I was in Jakarta ages ago listening to the conversation between a Chinese guy and a Jakartan, they usually ask the Chinese: what’s your Chinese name?
now I am wondering if Fu Bu is the Chinese name and Hiroo is his Japanese name, means people called him Hiroo in Japan but Fu Bu in China?
ALINE!!! You are really pushing it… hehehehe I’m going to tie you up and force you to eat old dumplings if you keep putting these pictures up.
Nice new profile pic.
I quite miss the pizzas in Shanghai. Papa John’s and other non Pizza Hut joints. You don’t get much of that in Malaysia.
