Whether student or teacher, we foreigners are pretty much just left to ourselves. I have been teaching at BoHai University for two years, and I have interacted with Chinese teachers only twice. And, it has nothing to do with language. Of course, with my students, it's another story. They will come up to us on a constant basis for help with their English. But, that's not the same... We are more than just monkey's who teach. I have found that this is a common occurance. Whether student or teacher, we foreigners are pretty much just left to ourselves.

It seems that one has to become more pro-active in a place like that, or they don't put out the effort to include you in their activities.
