August 2nd, 2005what i’ve been up to in Mauritius
I’ve been going out almost everyday, meeting friends here and there. Took many pics too. I’ll try to upload some of them.
Some pics taken at Caudan & Port-Louis Waterfront:
Tandoori Express at PL Waterfront, yummy Indian food.
Getting pricey now though.. ![]()

Stef,me,Sab at Caudan Waterfront
stef was on hols in MU. She went back to Australia now. Sab just got back from a trip to Philippines, all tanned. I keep thinking about my other friends who didn’t return to MU for their hols this year. awww..

Terence and me at Caudan Waterfront
My first and maybe only pic of Ter wearing a tie. We went to see him during lunch time. He works in the IBL building.

What I’ve been up to so far:
beach
went to the beach twice to tan a bit. No swimming because I simply can’t swim.
cinema
I went to Caudan to watch Star Wars yesterday. I already watched it on DVD in Shanghai (it was in English but with bad English subtitles) but my friends wanted to go watch so I went along. This time it was in French. Come to think of it, all movies I watch at the cinemas in Mauritius are in French. Harry Potter, Titanic, etc… I only started watching English movies when I went to Shanghai. It felt weird at first but I’m used to it now.
ice skating
there’s an ice skating rink in Mauritus now. I think it opened last year after I left MU. It’s artificial ice though. ah well.. I went ice skating once only. I didn’t fall but still, I need loads of practice. I thought that it’d be like rollerblading but it’s much more difficult. Ladies, don’t wear a skirt when going ice skating.
Not a pretty sight when you fall. I wore jeans but one of my friends wore a skirt. err…
At least people can go ice skating now. The only two bowling arenas in Mauritius are closed now …
I used to hang out a lot at Windsor bowling arena. ahh i miss that place.
lunch/ dinner with friends
most of my friends want to meet for lunch or dinner . I ate the new pizza at Pizza hut (Tandoori chicken i think it was), the new McArabia at McDonald, typical Chinese food, Indian food, dholl puris, roti pratas, Naans, Halim, ‘gato pima’, samousas, etc… Plus loads of homemade food. It’s a good thing my sisters like to cook.
stay at hotel
I’ve been to The Plantation Hotel (4 stars) with some friends. Had a lovely time there. I ran into a few probs with my camera so no pics. Hopefully, my friend will mail me some.

clubbing
‘Zenfan terrib’ and Arena… ‘Zenfan terrib’ ti vraimem terrib sa (sentence is in creole)
I didn’t enjoy myself there. The music was terrible and few people were dancing. Most of them were sitting ,talking and drinking. Arena was okay. It’s like a new craze; many people go to the Casino next to Arena before going to Arena itself. Try to win some money first? lol
My friends had some fun at the casino. We didn’t stay there long but they spent Rs200 and won nearly Rs2000. Not a lot but it was enough to pay all our entry tickets and drinks. hehe
I met so many old friends at Arena. ah.. makes me remember the old days.
I’m still terrible with faces… lol
Friend: Eta aline, ki dire? (Hey aline, what’s up/ how are you? )
Me: err… kisana toi? ( err… who are you?)

I miss home cooking Indian food, so lucky, get to get Indian food. I still have 3 weeks before I go home, for only 4 days:weeping:
Quote?Looks good! Kinda wish I would have had lunch.
Quote?Ayo, I didn’t know the bowling was closed at Windsor
I didn’t go on my holiday in April, but on my previous two visits to Mauritius I went there and loved it.
Hmmm, the cinema at Caudan, where I first met my darling, such happy memories!
Quote?Cool, you”re having fun:P
I’ve done pretty much everything you did except the clubbing and the ice-skating part:P For the first, I just didn’t feel like it and for the second, I tried it once on real ice and am not that keen to try it again, lol.
Anyway, thanks for your msg the other day. I hope we’ll get to meet up soon too:) (I’ll probably kass yen danser during my last weekend in mu, so hope to see you there):)
Quote?wow you sure been busy
look
Ter ter!! coum sa li haut li? enfin couma to… *cough*
I thought Naan was something disgusting? i tried once but i think it’s fake coz it doesnt taste the same as described by my friends (cat shit they say
Quote?Arghh, people who are supposedly trying to diet shouldn’t be reading this particular entry of yours.
Because it brings about insane cravings.
Sounds like you’re having an amazing time. Always good to catch up and spend quality time with old friends, yah?
Quote?A non-veg meal?
Meeting people is fun. I feel like that’s how my summers always are. I run into people from school and it’s “Oh, hi! How are you? How’s your summer going?” and visiting friends while they work.
Quote?Okay I can’t be shocked. I’m a vegetarian and I don’t eat a lot of vegetables
omg
i have some serious cravings for indian food now!!!!!!!!!!
