Ever since I’ve come back to Mauritius, I’ve met up with many of my ‘old’ friends and got to know many new people too. Some of my old friends now seem to be mere acquaintances. It feels so strange. Once so close or quite close friends, now we don’t really have anything to say to each other. We’ve moved on in our lives, made new friends, got new interests. Still, with many others, despite the fact that we have not seen each other for years and not emailing often , our friendship is still as strong as ever and it’s like we are ‘ continuing where we once stopped’.
With some of my gal friends, we were like squealing with excitement when we saw each other again. Hugging each other, looking at each other and saying things like “your hair is so long too” , ” wah.. you are so white now”, “you are wearing pink??” (I said this to a friend who was somewhat tomboyish before. ), etc .
hmmm..I wonder what guys say to each other after not seeing each other since a long time.
I feel like I’m learning new things everyday; friends who got married, who are in a serious relationship, those playboys who have finally settled down…
Some people have really changed a lot, not in a bad way though… Like I remember saying in my About page, I like to give people chances and I don’t regret doing that. Why hold on to grudges you had when you were still a teenager? It’s not easy to forget about the past but people do change. You can’t expect someone to be exactly the same after so many years. Everyone goes through the ‘teenager phase’ and you don’t know what might have triggered certain past actions. Don’t judge people too quickly.
By the way, see my darling’s drawings : Click here
Click on the drawings’ thumbnails at the end of his blog entry. A larger version will pop up. He’ll appreciate all comments and criticism.

We had a “family outing” yesterday. Dad didn’t go with us. He was tired from work.
We went to Richmond Hill right next to Super U (Grand Baie) first to get something to eat.
I let my siblings choose and in the end we bought 2 large pizzas (we got the half-half kind, hence 4 different types of pizzas) at Debonairs, 1 big burger at Steers and two cups of ice cream. 2 large pizzas= 16 slices We always divide food equally among us so we each got 4 slices of pizza. wahhhh 4 slices… I was already full by the time I finished my 2nd slice but my brother proceeded to eat his 3rd and 4th slice and my sisters followed. I had a very light breakfast that morning and no lunch. Promising myself that I won’t have dinner that night, I ate my 3rd and 4th slice too. I sure don’t regret doing that. The pizzas tasted great. I prefer Debonairs’ pizza to the pizza at Pizza Hut.

Caught on camera… I knew that Cheen was taking our pic but still, I didn’t move or rather I couldn’t . Someone was being killed at that time in the movie.

I just hate horror movies. I never willingly watch horror movies. I did, once many years ago, and I had nightmares for days. I know that they are only movies but still, I get nightmares.
If it wasn’t for Chenyi, I wouldn’t even have sat down on that couch. She loves watching horror movies but prefers to have people with her. Poor me huh?
Deejay had watched the movie already but he still sat there with us. Deejay, please, no more horror movies! wah.. I will bring my chinese dvds next time.
So I sat there and watched, covered my eyes with my hands, peeked at the TV screen from time to time and of course the whole time I could hear the eerie music or the screams. I could have just covered my eyes but curiousity got the better of me. It was a Japanese horror movie, something about receiving a message on mobile phones from one’s own number. The date and time of the message meant the date and time the person would die. The way the persons died were horrible… Arms, head twisted off from the body .. wah .. I’d rather not think about it.
There’s no way I’ll be forced to watch horror movies again, esp. the Japanese ones.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is finally out in the bookstores!! I just bought mine a few hours ago. I’ve always been a ‘quick reader’ and I’m on the 135th page already. There are 607 pages in all. I have to go help my parents in the store in a few minutes but I plan to finish the book today.

Some webcam pics:

ahh.. and a new pic in the sidebar.. My new hairstyle… + darker hair color… reddish brown when there’s sunlight but a very dark brown in that pic
-edited almost 5 hrs later-
I just finished the book! All I can say is “OMG!” . I didn’t expect things to turn out this way. :worried:  argh.. I dare not even think about what will happen in the next book.

It feels good to be back home. I’ve been helping out in my parents’ store but I also went out a few times with my sisters and friends. I cannot use my old sim card for the time being. I’m using my sister’s old sim card. Luckily, I had a few of my friends’ phone numbers saved on that sim. I’ve met a few friends already and will be meeting more later. I have nearly two months for that.
There are a few new things at home and one of them is this small fish tank:

Some of the fish:

It’s not very hot in Mauritius. In fact, it is winter right now but it doesn’t feel cold either. The weather sure is nicer than that in Shanghai. It was 34-39°C when I left Shanghai.
We finally have ADSL at home. I guess it’s only until September. My mum figured that it’s the best option since my bro (who’s also back to MU for his hols) and I go online very often. Our old internet package wouldn’t be enough.
Me @ 12:19 am
I’m done with my exams and I’ve been busy shopping. One of my sisters kept reminding me to buy this and that for her until I got a big headache and don’t feel like going on MSN messenger anymore. Erm.. Anyway, I’ll be done with the shopping tomorrow. I’ve got a suitcase full of things I’ve bought for my family already; some chinese medicine, some skin products, around 40 new clothes + 6 new pairs of shoes. So nice of me huh?
I don’t know when I’ll be going back to Mauritius again so ….
It’s a good thing that my little sister and I wear the same size.I can only take a few of my own clothes back to Mauritius since there isn’t enough space in the suitcase and there’s the limit of 20kgs. I guess I’ll put some clothes in my hand luggage.
I’m very sorry about this but right now, I won’t be able to meet those other expats in Shanghai who emailed me /chatted with me about meeting them. I won’t have time. We can arrange a meeting when I come back to Shanghai though.
Have fun.
I’ll be leaving Shanghai this Thursday morning and I’ll be back on September 5th. Since there are no direct flights from Shanghai to Mauritius, I’ll be going to Hong kong first.
My room is still a big mess now. I hope I don’t forget anything that I’m supposed to bring back to MU.
