arghh, website news @ 5:18 pm

Yesterday I was going through my cpanel webstats logs and I found three websites hotlinking to my images.
I couldn’t visit one of the websites because it’s blocked in China so the only thing I could do was change the image file names. For the others, I contacted the wedmistress and webmaster.
I got one response so far and do you know what she said???

girl .. i do not care. i can use whatever the hell i wanna use. people can go look at the properties and see yo` website. so don`t be gettin` no bitch fit on me.

See her comment in my previous entry. I didn’t even have a ‘fit’ . I had simply written a polite comment in her blog entry ( dated Thursday, May 26, 2005) with my image in it,asking her to remove it and I even gave her two links to websites so that she could go read about copyright and hotlinking. I was hoping that she’d realised that hotlinking is wrong. Her attitude totally pisses me off. (oh.. and she deleted my comment from her blog)

Anyway, I did an IP location check first before writing all this because I want to make sure that it’s her who has written that comment. Her IP (logged by wordpress) is 24.242.250.83 and the location is
Country: UNITED STATES
Region: TEXAS
City: HOUSTON , according to this.
Acccording to her Xanga profile, she is from there indeed.

I thought that she would take down the image asap.
I’m still thinking about what to do.
I can change the image url but is that enough? She’d just shrug it off and won’t give a damn.

If she had just saved my image and uploaded it , I wouldn’t mind that much but still, I’d appreciate being credited. But hotlinking, no way. I won’t allow that.
I took some screen captures yesterday and today.
This is one of those I took today:

The image is originally from one of my previous blog entries.
Do I sound like I’m making a big deal out of this? I blame it on my slight fever. On second thought, even if I wasn’t ill, I would be mad. All because of her ‘i do not care’ attitude.

Some info about :
Bandwidth Theft and copyright. I found those two websites after searching in google.

Recently, this tragic news has been the talk of many bloggers.
Simon Ng, a 19 years old immigrant from Hong Kong, was murdered not long after his last blog entry and the murderer was caught, all thanks to that blog entry. I hope the murderer gets what he deserves

The murderer, Lin, is Simon’s elder sister’s ex-boyfriend. Failing to find money in the appartment, he set upon Simon and stabbed him repeatedly until he died. When Simon’s sister Sharon returned home, Lin attacked her too. She also died shortly after.

Quote from one of Simon’s blog entries:

Eventhough I am underweight, I am still losing more weight. Gonna become human stickfigure soon, since I am eating one meal a day. No money you know, I can ask my sister for some if I wanted. She usually ask me if I need any, but I declined since she doesn’t make much….

And that guy Lin wanted to rob them. *shakes head* Crazy, heartless guy.

News are from there ,

Hundreds of people (up to now, 255 comments) have left their respects in Simon’s last blog entry.

Shanghai, Tongji Uni, photos @ 6:28 pm

Tongji University logo
Tongji University’s 98th anniversary was on Friday 19th May. There was a concert that night on the football playground.
The concert was to celebrate the anniversary and also because there was a big batch of students graduating from Tongji.

I couldn’t switch on my camera at first. I don’t know why it was like that. So I just sat there and enjoyed the concert. It was only when the concert was ending that I could switch it on. Just in time to take pics of the last few fireworks. I haven’t been able to take pics of the nicest ones. :(

Seeing all those people perform on stage makes me miss high school a lot.
I miss performing on stage.
The last time I danced on stage was for the Prize Giving ceremony & concert at my friends’ school. Seems so far away now.

arghh, education @ 8:23 pm

Okay so maybe I shouldn’t have attempted that exam after only 8 months studying Chinese language at Tongji University but I didn’t think I’d do this badly. I usually do well in Chinese exams without studying much.
The wireless headset I was using during the Listening Exam (听力) was not working properly. Or maybe it was just the guy’s voice which was like that… muffled, like he had a cold or was speaking too close to the microphone when they did the recording. :???: Many other students complained about that .
The other 3 papers weren’t any better.

It’s the first time that I do all 4 papers one after the other. Maybe I should attempt the HSK exam again in December. The results for this exam should be out before July.
It’s the first time that I’ve done this badly in a Chinese language exam. That feeling I had during the exam reminded me of the time I was sitting for my Chemistry exam in High School.
Stressed.
Panicky.
It’s the first time I feel like that during a Chinese Language exam. My fave subject ever since I was a kid. Arghh.
One thing I have to admit is that I started studying for this HSK exam only one week ago. I procrastinate too much. Still, the only other student in my class who also sat for the HSK today said that he found the exam difficult too. I wonder if studying more would have made any difference. Many of the words I saw in my exam papers today were words I’ve never seen before. They are certainly not in the books I’m using this year in class. Maybe that’s why undergraduate students studying Chinese language usually attempt the HSK during their second year at uni.
Anyway, I changed the photo in the sidebar to show my not-so-good mood. My sister said that I look a bit ill and sad when she saw me on webcam earlier.
No more playing World of Warcraft or Rose Online right before an important exam.

Got my results.

The upgrade from version 1.5 to 1.5.1 was a breeze.

The Changelog is there and upgrade instructions for upgrading wordpress 1.5 to 1.5.1 is there.
Apparently, this release has “a ton of bug fixes, enhancements, and an important security fix.”

Tip: Disable all plugins before upgrading. Not doing so might prevent you from accessing your admin page.

May 9th, 2005Transfer completed

website news @ 1:45 am

This was the quickest transfer ever.
Many thanks to James and his friend.
I can update now! hehe

Tip: Do regular backups of your website and download to your computer. Don’t forget the databases. (very important!)

I was thinking about this :
“How would you react if you lost all your blog entries and comments?”

On a good day, I’d just let out a big sigh, shrug it off and make a new start.
On a bad day, I ‘d probably burst into tears. (If someone makes a comment about that being a typical girlie reaction, I’m going to … )

website news @ 9:10 pm

-sigh-
Definitely not my day today.

I was on two other servers before and I’ve been on this server for 11 months.
I’m kinda sad about moving.

This blog will be down as from the 9th May and should be up after approximately one week. I’m moving to another server. I won’t be blogging again before that. :worried:
See you all then. :flowers:

-edited-
The transfer is going to start sooner so I might be back sooner. :flowers:
Thanks James.
