I’ve left my country since 4 months now.
I know that many friends of mine don’t like to keep in touch via email. For them, it’s too troublesome and in the end they often leave me waiting for a reply to my email for weeks. I have to admit that I’m guilty of doing that too. Until I decide to hit the Next button in my inbox several times (and I have 4 email accounts! :| ) , some people might not be getting replies from me. However, I promise that I’m going to do my best to reply to old emails asap. I’ll be on hols as from the 20th.

It’s not that I don’t like my friends… It’s just that most of the emails I receive are more or less the same.
Something like
“Hello, how are you? How do you find China? Have you gotten used to your university yet?Bye”

Having to type the same answers every time is … boring and tiring.
When I get such emails, I often let the email sit in my inbox for a while before replying.
Moreover, short emails like the example above are annoying. They just don’t feel ‘personal’ enough. My closest friends all know that I prefer long, interesting emails. They’d never write me a short email like that one. They know how to add a ‘personal touch’ to their emails, something which gives me the feeling that they know me well and that they really care. Sometimes, I only have to read the content of an email to know who sent it. No need to read the sender’s name or email address.

Of course, there’s also the matter of quality over quantity.
I’ve recently received an email which consisted of 4 sentences only and those few lines kept me beaming for a whole day.

Still, it’s lovely to receive emails, especially from people I haven’t heard from since ages.
Receiving emails from strangers is pleasant too, at least most of the time.
I’ve been getting emails about my university lately and it’s a pleasure for me to help those people who want to study in Tongji. :flowers:
Strangely, lately it has been easier for me to reply to emails from strangers than to emails from my friends. I’m feeling bad about this now. I’m going to reply to a few emails today. That’s for sure.

One of the things I love about blogging is that I can let all my friends know what I’ve been up to.
At least, if they bother to read my blog, then they know what I’ve been up to.
No need to write individual emails and no need for mass emailing.
I don’t really like mass emailing. What I mean by mass emailing is writing an email and sending it to many people.

Now, I’m even neglecting my blog. I always mean to update but tend to put it off for days and even weeks. Need to do something about that.

I might now be blogging for 3 weeks after the 25th January.
I won’t be in Shanghai during the winter holidays and unless I find an internet café in Meixian, I can’t blog or even if I do, I won’t be able to upload the pics from my digital camera. I doubt that they have Windows Xp in the 网吧 (wangba) there. :???:
