October 31st, 2004No longer sick & More Mauritians in Shanghai
I fell ill again last week and it took me a whole week to get better. Right now, the temperature in Shanghai is about 15 degrees and it’s more or less like winter in Mauritius. I never liked winter in Mauritius. I always fall ill. I’ve been in Shanghai since two months now and I fell ill three times already. I think that right now it’s still the end of autumn and it will be colder and colder soon. I’m not looking forward to winter here.
I wonder how I’ll manage. My friends and I are going shopping for winter clothes next week.
Kwang and his brother came to Shanghai last week.

They came here mostly because of the Dragon Boat Race which took place at Dianshan Lake in the district of Qingpu. Credit to Gilbert for these photos. (thanks again!)

Who’s the next Mauritian coming to Shanghai?

Muaha! i’ve been trying to identify the food, can’t you take bigger shots of the food instead of people? There are people everywhere
I’ve been taking photos of food too but I’ll upload them later.
I want to take more food pics first.
I promise to post the pics in my next blog entry.
Yes, I could do that..but only if the other Mauritians contribute,i.e write/blog. Unfortunately, they are not into blogging.
i guess you’re not use to the cold weather yet. glad to know you’re feeling much better. i’m still down with my flu and cough..it’s a major bummer
nice photos..your reddish hair goes great with red outfit
Oh, a small world it is. The guy in the right hand corner (first pic topmost) was a staff at the place where I work.
Cheers to JP. I know Kwang too, an overly ardent linux fan.
I’m glad that you’re doing better.
Ugh, I’m not looking forward to winter either ~ it’s already very cold here in Denmark (10 degrees):(
Who’s the next? Me. In 2006.
Hey, I recognise Gilbert! Used to copy his homework! Thanks mate!
i just joined a dragon boat racing team.
sorry to hear that you gotsick.. hope things are better now!!!
i hope you are feeling a lot better now. i’m not a fan of winter as well…and winter in canada is dreadful =(
but i do enjoy shopping for some winter clothings
I was wondering who amongst the guys standing in the first picture is Kwang. Any help?
It’s getting cold here, in the Netherlands, too.
Brr cold!
Awwww. At least you’re feeling better now.
Here, the weather fluctuates a lot. Very hot & sunny one minute, the next rain is pouring hard. I’m feeling not so fine too. TC!
Bien content finne zoindre toi acot S’hai. Ava revini ene lot fois c sur!
Shanghai is a indeed a great place to be. Still, it’s much warmer than Beijing or Chongqing. Hopefully, u’ll get used to the climate and not fall sick. Doing some exercise like Dragon Boating would not hurt either (hint, hint!!!
)
Sorry for taking this long to reply. I had to ask if it was okay first.
the guy in the middle.
Hope that you won’t have any more illnesses … I think you might find that the longer you are there you’ll get a bit more used to the cold and it won’t affect you as much!
I’d like to comment a little about the Dragon Boating. The first pix shows the Chinese Senior Women team paddling towards the starting line on boat number 2. By senior, we mean that they are all about 40+ years old and could easily pass as some innocuous middle-aged lady. But give them a paddle and put them together on a boat, you get a formidable world-class competitive team!
Results of the 5th International Dragon Boat Championships can be obtained from the German Dragon Boat Federation website:

thanks!
You could have blogged about it. How’s the wordpress installation coming along?
I am shocked! Kwang is bald. Ok, just kidding. =]
You’d better be.
I’ve got another friend who shaved his head and I think it looks cool. Not everyone can carry this style off.
Ok, bald people rock! =]
Well, some of them do.
I’m coming soon!
What do you want…dholpourris?
soon? really?
how soon is that? Can dhollpourris survive that 12-15 hours flight?
I haven’t had dhollpourris since ages.
I’ll freeze your dholpouris first…if they do not survive…then you should come over to mu
cheers.
