September 4th, 2004One more day!
I’m leaving Mauritius tomorrow evening and I haven’t even finished packing.
It’s the first time that I’ll be away from home for a period of 4 years. I’m trying to pack wisely but there are certain things which I really can’t bear to leave behind, especially the gifts I received from my friends. I’m even taking my majorette twirling baton with me. I’ve been very busy this week with packing, shopping and meeting my friends. I feel bad about not being able to meet up with everyone . Sometimes I wish that I could be in two places at the same time. I’ve been out almost every night since most of my friends are free at night only. When I meet my friends, we always go have lunch or dinner. I can feel the extra pounds coming. ah well.. I can work these off after I leave Mauritius.
A few pics taken during my nights out:
At Caudan Waterfront
I took a few pics there while waiting for Diana to arrive.

At Spur, me and Stephanie.

I’ve had a pretty long day, meeting friends here and there; Chinatown,Gladiator,Rodeo,Pizza hut Caudan,McDonald….
Today, I finally met James. I ‘know’ him since February but it’s only today that we managed to meet. In fact, I was wondering if he was scared of me or something like that but today, I was pleasantly surprised.
I’ve just returned home. I had dinner at Marina with Eliette and Dar. I have to admit that I was feeling very tired and I had my packing on my mind. I always worry about everything. Still, I had a lovely time.

There’s one thing which will never change; I still think a lot. There’s so many things I’d like to do or say before leaving Mauritius but some of them are just too difficult for me to talk about. I’m gonna let time work its magic. Maybe.. maybe one day.

hi i’m laure marday i used 2 live in beaubassin in mauritius.but my family still...
See, you worried too much.

hmm.. you knew me since February? And oh dear! we are september. Time passes by really fast!!
Tomorrow will be ur last day, so enjoy!
leaving a place where we have a lot of souvenirs is always a harsh decision to take and a hard fight over oneself
j’espere que tu pourras surmonter ça sans trop de regret, après tout, “qui sourit à l’avenir, l’avenir lui sourit” ;)
anyway, enjoy your last day in Mauritius, don’t spend all your time to pack
oh well
Bon Voyage Aline! Wish you all the best in the world, I’m sure it will be a wonderful and amazing experience!
Have a wonderful time, hope we’ll hear of your adventures in Chine!!
All the best and keep blogging while ur there
Enjoy every moment that you can before you leave. I’m sure you will have a fantastic journey ahead of you Aline, and one that you will treasure.
Well, you know, through the online world you can almost be in two or more places at once
My, how fast it has been. It seems like just yesterday that you were asking about college choices in China and now, within 24 hrs, your dream will be realized. I hope this experience will be everything you’ve expected and more!
wow! four years away from home. i wish you all the best. anyway, i brought my majorette baton to Canada when i moved here. and now, it’s one of my most cherished possessions.
Good luck !
Hi Aline
Good luck with your studies. Time does pass by very quickly. Keep blogging and post some nice pics of China here.
Good luck and bon voyage, Aline! I am especially impatient of waiting to read your first impressions of your new home.
hello Aline, that was exactly what I did in those days before I got on the plane, trying to meet all my friends, my relatives, but finally I realized that I spent least time with my parents, I always feel guilty about it anyway. It seems that you’re going to gain a big OE in Shanghai now, and TongJi University has a very high reputation in Shanghai, which was where I wish I could enroll, only I can’t due to my quite limited brain :???:, and it has certain amount of International students, and as I know, Chinese students now feel more like making friends with them, friendly. So I guess you won’t be isolated, a lot of things are waiting for you to explore, Shanghai is a pretty city, but there’s always two sides, and you may hate this city in some ways, personally I do, even though it’s my hometown. Being home is always better than away from it, I still have a couple of months to go before I go back to Shanghai. Geeee, I miss my mum’s cooking so much…
Good luck!
Good luck with everything & I wish you the best
wow..leaving already? that’s pretty fast..:weeping: well, good luck and enjoy yourself over there in China.. hope to catch you online sometime in the future..take care

(祝你生日快乐!)
Oh yes,one week break for me at the moment and also to wish you a happy 20th birthday
I’ve always wanted to visit Mauritius. Ever since I met this guy during my trip to Singapore. It seems like such an interesting place… When’s the best time of year to go?
There are quite a lot of Mauritians studying or working in Sg.
I think that any time of the year is okay because the temperature is more or less the same throughout the year. If you are used to winter in other countries, then winter in Mauritius will be nothing for you. You might not even notice that it’s winter.
My fave month of the year in MU is December.
