August 11th, 2004Transfer $25,000,000
I got this in an email.
I remember getting another one a bit like this last year.
Dear sir,
I am Mr. Charles Konnan, the Head of the Account Department of Liberia Petroleum Refining Coproration.
My country is currently at war and everyone is already looking for where to run to. The United States government has ordered our President (Charles Taylor) to leave the country and and has already sent troops heading to Liberia. Arrangements has been concluded for Mr. Taylor to take refuge in Nigeria.I am currently planing to take refuge in Lome, Togo or in Nigeria also. I have deposited the sum of $25,000,000.00 in a finance and security company in Europe. Because the current situation requires all of us that have served this government to go into exile. I would need an urgent assistance to transfer the $25,000,000.00 to a safe account to secure the future of my family.
I am ready to go into negotiations with you regarding what percentage of the money should go to you while you would also help in investing and managing the fund.My family and I, will also appreciate any help you may offer in helping us to come over to your country to settle after this transaction has finally been transferred.
The area I urgently need your assistance is to help me move the money from where it was deposited to your country for investment.
I would expect that all aspects of the dealing be conducted with trust and absolute confidentiality. Please contact me urgently for further clarification. Thank you again for the kind attention and God bless you.Sincerely,
Charles Konnan
I’m sure that many other people have received such emails. I wonder if some people actually believe in this stuff. Maybe one day when i have nothing to do, I’ll reply to such an email and see what happens.
I went back to work (again!) . I figured that I’ll have time to work for one more week and then start packing during the weekend. I won’t be able to carry too many things. I think the max is 30 kgs for China.

In reply to a comment someone left,
my reply is : I ( as well as my friends who commented) know that it’s only a scam but some people don’t know. That’s why i posted about this.

They seem to have gained some more money in that pile (of grade A crap ‘o’ la). My email says $75,000,000.00 in it. So I guess that means things aren’t as bad in his coutry after all.
So now all I need is my sneaking suit, the stealth camo, and my FA-MAS and I’ll be all set to go… Now where did I put Otacon’s CODEC number???
I Won 4 Million Euros!
Yeah right!
Simple Googling revealed this to be a big email scam.
The prize money may vary from 4 million Euro (for the 2nd category) to 5 million US (for Category A), but the scheme of selecting winners (or the sponsors) always remain the same.
I blogged about it (as it turns the day before you), have a read when you’re free

C’mon dudes. Stuff like this goes around the net all the time.
People got nothing to do so they think of a scam and try to sell it ti somebody. If you have recieved more messages like this you will notice that in each one you are asked to give your personal information(adress, phone and fax number…) in order to get more info about you so that he can play with you i little more.
Next time just delete the message or Google it!:censored:
aline’s reply : We know that it’s only a scam but some people don’t know. That’s why i posted about this.

Do they really think that they can scam someone w/ that
I keep receiving all kinds of sex emails.. like “young horny girls” etc., “Pavali, how to grow your manhood”.
The last time I checked I was still a girl, lol ^^
there are a lot of people who try to fight the “419 scammers” …
419 is in fact the number of the amendment to the Nigerian law that punish that kind of scam.
If you want to learn more about this kind of scam, you can see http://www.419eater.com/ : people who recieve scams are trying to extort pictures from scammers. one even managed to recieve 10$ from one
and one scammer enevn sent the story of an african astronaut trapped inside a space station : http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/04/16/cosmic_419er/
I received this last year, too. Why is this still floating around the internet even though it’s been revealed as a scam in newspapers and on TV? Are they hoping to fool someone who has lived in a cave for the past couple of years? These spammers really have to come up with new material. (I love this smiley as well.)
